Job description

Experienced Teaching Assistant - SEN & Alternative Provision

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant ready for a new challenge?
Do you excel in SEN or behaviour-focused settings and want a role where your skills truly matter?

We’re recruiting skilled and resilient Teaching Assistants to work across SEN schools and Alternative Provision settings, supporting pupils with complex needs, including SEMH, ASD, ADHD, and challenging behaviour.

This role is ideal for TAs who are confident, proactive, and experienced in managing behaviour while building positive, consistent relationships with students.

The Role

As an experienced Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support pupils with additional needs on a 1:1 or small-group basis
  • Implement behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques
  • Provide structure, routine, and emotional support
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams
  • Help create a calm, safe, and supportive learning environment

You’ll be working in settings where consistency, boundaries, and relationships are key.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience as a Teaching Assistant (SEN and/or Alternative Provision preferred)
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEMH, ASD, ADHD, or complex needs
  • Confidence, resilience, and emotional intelligence
  • A calm, firm, and compassionate approach

This is not a general classroom role — we’re looking for TAs who can confidently handle challenging behaviour and thrive in specialist settings.

What’s On Offer

  • Long-term roles with temp-to-perm opportunities
  • Supportive leadership and specialist environments
  • Ongoing CPD and SEN-focused training
  • A role where your experience is recognised and valued
