Job description

Position: Teacher

Location: Liverpool

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Contract Type: Full-Time / Temp to Perm

About the Schools

Are you driven by the desire to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people? Do you bring resilience, empathy, and unwavering commitment to supporting students who haven’t thrived in mainstream education?

A cluster of Alternative Provision (AP) schools across the Wirral area is seeking a dedicated Teacher for one of their sites. These schools specialise in providing personalised learning pathways for students who have experienced barriers in traditional settings. Their mission is to empower young people to re-engage with education and progress confidently into mainstream school or a successful Post‑16 destination.

The Role

As a Teacher within an AP setting, you will play a transformative role in shaping students’ futures. You’ll deliver a broad, engaging curriculum to small classes, creating a safe, supportive, and structured environment where each learner can grow both academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Curriculum Delivery: Teach a range of subjects to small groups, adapting lessons to meet individual learning needs.
  • Student Support: Identify and help address barriers to learning, motivating students to develop a positive attitude towards education.
  • Progress Monitoring: Track academic and personal progress, working closely with colleagues to create tailored strategies for improvement.
  • Parental & Multi‑Agency Engagement: Build strong links with parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure a holistic approach to student development.
  • Reintegration & Transition: Support students returning to mainstream education or transitioning into further education, training, or employment.

What We’re Looking For

  • Resilience: Ability to remain calm, positive, and solution‑focused in challenging situations.
  • Compassion: A genuine commitment to supporting every student’s wellbeing, development, and success.
  • Experience: Prior AP or SEND experience is beneficial but not essential—passion and adaptability are equally valued.
  • Adaptability: Confidence in tailoring teaching methods to suit a wide range of learning styles and needs.
  • Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal abilities, with confidence engaging students, families, and colleagues.
