SEN Teaching Assistant – Special Education Free School

The school is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to become part of a supportive and forward‑thinking team committed to helping every learner succeed.

 

The Role

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside classroom teachers to deliver high‑quality support and care to pupils aged 4–16 years with a range of additional needs. These may include:

  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • Behavioural and emotional difficulties

You will collaborate closely with class teachers and senior leaders to help create a nurturing, structured and inclusive learning environment where pupils feel safe, supported and ready to learn.

Who We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate will be:

  • A patient, resilient, innovative and caring individual with a compassionate approach to supporting young people
  • Experienced in SEN(D) support, either within or outside of an educational setting
  • Confident in clear verbal and non‑verbal communication
  • Comfortable collaborating with teachers, therapists and wider support staff
  • Knowledgeable in positive behaviour support strategies
  • Flexible and confident working across different age groups
  • Able to de‑escalate challenging situations calmly and safely

 

Working Hours & Benefits

  • Full‑time
  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday: 08:15 – 15:00
  • Wednesday: 08:15 – 16:00
  • Term‑time only
  • £13.75 per hour
  • 12.07% holiday pay
