Job description

Full-Time SEN Teaching Assistant

We’re seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to work full-time in a well-established specialist setting supporting children and young people with complex social communication needs and autism.

 

Role Description:

  • Provide tailored support to pupils aged 4–19, helping them engage successfully in both academic and social learning.

  • Work closely with teachers and therapists to follow individual education plans and behaviour strategies.

  • Support pupils’ communication development and help maintain a calm, structured environment.

  • Assist with life-skills learning, daily routines, and community-based activities.

  • Promote independence, emotional well-being, and safeguarding at all times.

 

Essential Experience:

  • Previous experience working in an SEN or specialist educational environment.

  • Strong understanding of autism, communication needs, and behaviour support.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, patience, and resilience.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team.

  • Enhanced DBS required.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
