SEN Teaching Assistant – Aurora Ryefields School

Location: Derby (DE1 3HF)
Hours: 40 hours per week | Term Time Only (44.67 paid weeks)
Salary: £22,996 – £25,068 actual annual salary (dependent on experience and qualifications)
Hourly Rate: £12.87 – £14.03 per hour

We are currently working in partnership with Aurora Ryefields School to recruit a passionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their specialist team.

Aurora Ryefields is a supportive and inspiring provision for children and young people aged 5–19 with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and associated Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The school provides a structured and nurturing environment where students are supported to grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

The Role

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support students with their learning and wellbeing to ensure they have the best opportunity to reach their full potential in a safe and caring environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting students during lessons and learning activities

  • Helping to implement individual learning and behaviour strategies

  • Encouraging positive communication and social interaction

  • Providing pastoral and emotional support

  • Assisting with care needs when required

  • Working closely with teachers and the wider multidisciplinary team

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working with SEN students, particularly Autism or SEMH

  • A patient, resilient and compassionate approach

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
