SEN Teaching Assistant
Job description
Teaching Personnel is seeking a committed and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to support one of our specialist education partners in the CV7 area. This provision supports pupils with a range of complex needs, including Autism (ASD), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD).
About the Setting
The setting promotes a warm, inclusive ethos where pupils, families and staff feel respected, supported and safe. The environment is built on collaboration, positive relationships, and celebrating every pupil’s progress—no matter how big or small.
Learning is carefully personalised, drawing on sensory‑based, play‑based, life‑skills and adapted curriculum pathways. The focus is on developing communication, independence, confidence and essential life skills, helping pupils move toward greater autonomy and preparing them for adulthood in a structured, nurturing environment.
About the Role
You will play a key role in helping pupils access learning in a supportive, calm and encouraging atmosphere. Approaches may include sensory integration activities, visual supports, total communication strategies, structured routines and positive emotional‑regulation techniques.
Working closely with teachers, therapists and families, you will contribute to a consistent, holistic approach that supports the whole child across their school day.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored 1:1 and small‑group support meeting pupils’ sensory, communication and cognitive needs.
- Adapt learning materials and activities to make them engaging and fully accessible.
- Implement strategies from EHCPs and individual support plans to support meaningful progress.
- Use visual aids, sensory tools and communication systems to assist understanding and regulation.
- Encourage independence, resilience and confidence through practical life‑skills and structured learning.
- Support pupils during lessons, outdoor learning, community activities and transitions.
- Contribute to a calm, respectful and inclusive environment that nurtures development and wellbeing.

Requirements
- Willing to complete a DBS check or able to provide an updated certificate
- Able to supply two references
- Proof of right to work in the UK

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
