Position: SEN Teaching Assistant (Long-Term & Flexible)
Location: Liverpool (L9) (including specialist and SEN school settings)
Employer: Teaching Personnel – Liverpool Branch
Contract: Long-term, ongoing placements
Hours: Full-Time (5 days per week) or Part-Time options available
Start Date: Immediate / Flexible start dates available

About the Role

Teaching Personnel – one of the UK’s leading education recruitment agencies – is seeking dedicated, compassionate, and hardworking SEN Teaching Assistants to support learners with a wide range of complex additional needs, including Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), physical disabilities and other SEN profiles.

You will be placed in long-term roles working everyday alongside experienced teaching staff and specialist teams to help deliver tailored learning, support personal care where required, and contribute to an inclusive and nurturing environment every day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN, PMLD and physical disabilities.
  • Work alongside class teachers, SENCOs and support personnel to implement individual education and care plans.
  • Support access to the curriculum and help students achieve their learning goals.
  • Assist with personal, physical and sensory needs where applicable (training and support provided).
  • Promote a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Passionate individuals with a genuine interest in working with children and young people with complex needs.
  • Experience in SEN support, PMLD care or physical disability awareness is beneficial but not essential — enthusiasm and the right attitude matter most.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
  • A commitment to inclusive practice and children’s development.
  • Enhanced DBS check or willingness to obtain one through Teaching Personnel.
