About the Role
Teaching Personnel are recruiting experienced and fully trained SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils with significant physical needs across East London. This role centres around delivering safe and effective mobility support, personal care, and learning assistance to children with complex SEND.
You will work closely with teaching staff and allied health professionals to ensure each pupil receives high‑quality, dignified support every day.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils with physical disabilities, PMLD or complex medical needs.
- Safely use hoists, slings and mobility equipment throughout the school day.
- Follow correct manual handling procedures, ensuring safe transfers and positioning.
- Assist with personal care, including toileting, changing, feeding and mobility.
- Support access to the curriculum and promote independence and well‑being.
- Work collaboratively with SENCOs, physiotherapists, OTs, teachers and wider support teams.
Essential Requirements — Must Have
⚠️ Candidates MUST hold valid:
- Hoist Training Certificate
- Manual Handling Certificate
Those without these certificates will not be considered.
Additional Requirements
- SEN experience with physical or complex needs
- Reliable, calm, compassionate nature
- Enhanced Child‑Only DBS (or willingness to apply)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
