Job description

Teaching Personnel are exclusively working with a Catholic Primary School in Birkenhead who are looking to recruit a Reception Teacher to join them in September 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a nurturing school community that prides itself on its inclusive ethos, high standards, and commitment to providing the very best start to education for all pupils.

Reception Teacher

  • Part time: Tuesday to Friday, four days per week
  • Pay: MPS1  - UPS1
  • Location: CH41, Birkenhead
  • Catholic Primary School
  • Role open to ECT and experienced applicants
  • Maternity cover – full academic year

The school is looking for an educator who is passionate about Early Years teaching and who understands the importance of learning through play, exploration, and relationship-building. You will take responsibility for a Reception class, delivering engaging lessons aligned with the EYFS framework and fostering a positive, stimulating environment where children can thrive.

You will be supported by an experienced SLT, collaborative EYFS colleagues, and a strong wider staff team. The school offers excellent professional development opportunities and is very open to working with ECTs and those with prior classroom experience.

The successful candidate will be:

  • Passionate about Early Years education and child development
  • Confident in delivering EYFS curriculum and continuous provision
  • Warm, nurturing, and able to build strong relationships with pupils and parents
  • Organised, reflective, and committed to high-quality teaching
  • Supportive of the school’s Catholic ethos (you do not need to be Catholic to apply)
  • Either an ECT looking for their first role or an experienced teacher seeking a new challenge
