Reception (FS2) Teacher
Role: FS2 Primary Teacher
Location: Reddish, SK5
Contract Type: Part-time, Temporary
Salary: £130 – 150
A welcoming primary school in Reddish is seeking a confident and adaptable Reception (FS2) Teacher to support their Early Years team on a day‑to‑day supply basis. The school is looking for someone with strong EYFS experience who can step into the classroom smoothly, create a positive learning atmosphere, and provide high‑quality teaching at short notice. As a Reception Teacher, you will play an important part in supporting children during their first steps in education, bringing both compassion and expertise to the classroom each day.
Responsibilities of a Reception (FS2) Teacher:
- Plan and deliver engaging, age‑appropriate learning activities aligned with the EYFS framework.
- Create a safe, stimulating, and nurturing environment that encourages curiosity, independence, and confidence.
- Use play‑based and child‑led approaches to support early development across all EYFS areas of learning.
- Observe, assess, and track children’s progress using EYFS assessment methods, ensuring records and reports are accurate and up to date.
- Recognise and support individual learning needs, including SEND, EAL, and pupils requiring additional guidance.
- Promote pupils’ personal, social, and emotional development (PSED) through positive interactions and routines.
- Implement effective behaviour management strategies suitable for early years learners.
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, EYFS colleagues, and the wider school team.
- Communicate clearly with parents and carers, sharing updates about children’s progress and development.
- Take part in planning sessions, observations, and moderation activities.
- Support smooth transitions into and out of Reception, working closely with Nursery and Year 1 staff.
Requirements of a Reception (FS2) Teacher:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) within the UK.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the EYFS framework, particularly Reception/FS2.
- A caring, patient, and child‑centred approach to teaching and classroom practice.
- Confidence in supporting early literacy, numeracy, and foundational learning skills.
- Ability to observe, assess, and track pupil progress in line with statutory EYFS expectations.
- A firm commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children.
