Job description

We are working with a secondary school in Harrow seeking a passionate and practical Design & Technology Teacher to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for a DT specialist who can deliver engaging, hands-on lessons and inspire students to develop both creative and technical skills.

The Role:
As a Design & Technology Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality lessons across KS3 and KS4, with the potential to teach KS5 depending on experience. You will plan and deliver a broad DT curriculum that may include product design, resistant materials, graphics, or food technology, tailored to your specialism.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging DT lessons that promote creativity, problem-solving, and independent thinking

  • Teach across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable but not essential)

  • Assess, track, and report on pupil progress in line with school policies

  • Maintain a safe, organised, and inspiring workshop/classroom environment

  • Support pupils of varying abilities through effective differentiation

  • Contribute to the wider life of the department and school community

  • Uphold safeguarding, health & safety, and behaviour policies at all times

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent

  • Strong subject knowledge in Design & Technology

  • Experience teaching DT in a UK secondary school setting

  • Confident classroom management skills

  • A creative, enthusiastic, and resilient approach to teaching

  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
