This welcoming, close knit Church in Wales primary school in the Gabalfa and Heath area of Cardiff provides a caring, secure environment where pupils are supported to feel safe, valued and ready to learn. Teaching Personnel are recruiting a committed Year 2 Teacher for a long term position. This role suits a teacher who can create a calm, purposeful classroom, deliver engaging lessons, and build strong routines that help children thrive academically and emotionally.
The role
-
Take full responsibility for a Year 2 class, including planning, delivery and assessment

Deliver high quality lessons aligned to the Curriculum for Wales and the school’s approach

Create a positive, structured learning environment with clear expectations and strong behaviour management
-
Support pupils with varying levels of English language development and a range of additional learning needs
-
Use formative assessment to adapt teaching and close gaps quickly
-
Work closely with teaching assistants and wider staff to provide effective support for individuals and groups
-
Maintain high standards of safeguarding, wellbeing and classroom practice
-
Communicate effectively with parents and contribute to wider school life
The ideal candidate
-
Qualified Teacher Status
-
Registered with the Education Workforce Council or willing to register immediately
-
Experience teaching in Key Stage 1, ideally Year 2
-
Confident with phonics, early reading, writing development and core numeracy
-
Strong classroom presence, organised, proactive and consistent
-
Experience supporting pupils with English as an additional language and additional learning needs is highly desirable
-
A clear commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
