Job Title: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – SEMH Primary School

About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a vibrant SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) primary school in Manchester City Centre. This setting supports pupils with a range of SEMH needs, including anxiety, attachment difficulties, ADHD, and challenging behaviours. The ideal candidate will have a passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning and thrive both academically and emotionally.
Essential Requirements
- HLTA qualification or equivalent experience
- Up-to-date Team Teach certification
- Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service
- Experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs in a primary setting
- Strong behaviour management skills and a nurturing approach
Key Responsibilities
As an SEMH HLTA, you will:
- Deliver planned lessons and interventions in line with teacher guidance, adapting strategies to meet individual SEMH needs.
- Support pupils in developing emotional regulation, resilience, and positive social interactions.
- Implement behaviour management techniques effectively, ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment.
- Work closely with the SENCO and class teachers to create personalised learning plans.
- Lead small group sessions focusing on literacy, numeracy, and social skills development.
- Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teaching staff and contributing to EHCP reviews.
- Promote a positive, inclusive ethos that encourages engagement and confidence in learning.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
