PMLD Teaching Assistant

Job description

Are you a teaching assistant with experience working with children that have special educational needs? Do you feel confident about working with children with SEN and making their educational experience more comfortable and enjoyable? Then we have the job for you!

Job Responsibilities:

  • Providing high-quality childcare
  • Safeguarding children
  • Having a positive and creative approach to behaviour and building the children's confidence
  • Keeping children focused and engaged in their learning using different tools and methods
  • Building a strong relationship with the class teacher in order to communicate effectively with both them and the children
  • Supporting children with a variety of needs across all areas of learning, while also promoting independence
  • Liaising with the relevant class teachers and SENCO when required


  • An understanding of Safeguarding
  • An understanding of OFSTED requirements
  • Knowledge of the EYFS curriculum
  • A DBS on the update service or the willingness to complete a new DBS application

  • A passion for working with children that have SEN and determination to make sure that their learning experience is as comfortable and positive as possible
  • An eagerness to learn and face new challenges every day
  • An ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and parents
  • A pro-active, understanding, empathetic and patient manner

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
