Job Description
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Physical Therapy Assistant to join a specialist Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in Blackpool. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people with complex physical, developmental, and learning needs in a structured educational environment.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will support the delivery of physiotherapy programmes designed by a qualified Physiotherapist, helping pupils to develop mobility, independence, and physical wellbeing to enable greater access to learning.
Key Responsibilities

Implement physiotherapy programmes under the guidance of a registered Physiotherapist

Support pupils with mobility, posture management, stretching, and functional movement activities

Assist with the use of specialist equipment, including mobility aids and positioning supports

Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to the therapy and education teams

Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff to ensure consistent care

Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment at all times
Essential Requirements

Relevant qualification as a Physical Therapy / Physiotherapy Assistant

Proven experience working as a Physical Therapy Assistant

Experience working with children or young people with SEN, disabilities, or complex needs

Strong understanding of safeguarding and child-centred practice

Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team

Good communication and record-keeping skills

Experience within a school or educational setting

Knowledge of EHCPs and therapy provision in SEN environments

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
