Intervention Support Assistant

Teaching Personnel is seeking proactive and caring Intervention Support Assistants to work in specialist SEMH and SEN schools across Wigan. These schools support pupils aged 5–16 with a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, and social, emotional and mental health challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver targeted interventions to support pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development.
• Work 1:1 and in small groups to help pupils overcome barriers to learning.
• Support classroom activities and adapt resources to meet individual needs.
• Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to implement intervention plans.
• Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to staff and parents as required.

Candidate Requirements:

• Experience working with children or young people with SEN/SEMH (in education, care, youth work, or similar settings).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships and motivate pupils.
• Patience, resilience, and a solution-focused approach.
• Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply through Teaching Personnel).
• Relevant qualifications or training are desirable but not essential.
