Location: Cambridgeshire

Start Date: September 2026

Contract: Part-time (60%)

Salary: £32,916 – £51,047 annually (actual) + TLR 2B

Are you a passionate linguist ready to shape a brand-new department? We are seeking an inspiring Head of Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) to lead the design and delivery of an ambitious, knowledge-rich languages curriculum within a growing secondary school environment.

This exciting leadership opportunity is ideal for an experienced middle leader, or an outstanding practitioner ready for their first step into departmental leadership.

As Head of MFL, you will:

  • Lead the creation of a coherent, academically rigorous MFL curriculum.
  • Shape the department’s long-term vision, ethos, and identity.
  • Model exemplary teaching, learning, and assessment practices.
  • Build, mentor, and inspire a team of practitioners as the school expands.
  • Develop high-quality resources, enrichment programmes, and cultural experiences.

  • Teach an additional subject in the first year of development, contributing to whole-school needs.

  • A reflective, research‑informed practitioner with excellent pedagogical insight.
  • Experienced in KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable as wider campus provision evolves).
  • Confident mentoring colleagues and supporting their professional growth.
