Full-Time SEMH Teaching Assistant (Postgraduate Opportunity)
Do you have a nurturing and compassionate nature? Are you a recent graduate in Psychology, Criminology, or Sports-related fields looking to make a meaningful impact? Teaching Personnel are seeking motivated individuals who are passionate about supporting children and young people with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
This full-time Teaching Assistant position, based in Bristol, involves working with both Primary and Secondary SEN students who may experience challenges with emotional regulation and may have experienced trauma.
As a Teaching Assistant, your role will extend far beyond academic support. You will build strong, trusting relationships with students, helping them understand and manage their emotions through consistent communication and positive reinforcement. This role is particularly suited to graduates looking to pursue careers in educational psychology, youth justice, social work, or coaching.
The school provides a unique and engaging curriculum, combining core academic subjects such as Maths and English with practical life skills, including cooking and mechanics, supported by on-site specialist facilities.
About the role:

Full-time position, Monday to Friday (08:00 – 15:00)

Small class sizes of 8–10 pupils, allowing for meaningful relationship building

Ideal for graduates in Psychology, Criminology, Sports Science, or related fields

£92 per day, paid weekly

What you need:

A degree in Psychology, Criminology, Sports, or a related field

A strong desire to support vulnerable young people and make a positive impact

Confidence working with challenging behaviour and emotionally dysregulated students

Resilience, adaptability, and a calm, proactive approach

A genuine passion for child development, behaviour support, and mentoring

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
