Job description

Food Technology Technician – 6 Week Cover

We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Food Technician to provide 6 weeks’ cover at a secondary school. This is an excellent short-term opportunity to support the Food Technology department in a busy and well-organised school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing ingredients, equipment, and materials for Food Technology lessons

  • Supporting teaching staff during practical lessons

  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic kitchen environment

  • Managing stock levels and ordering supplies when required

  • Ensuring health and safety and food hygiene standards are followed at all times

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Food Technician in a school is preferred

  • Alternatively, experience as a chef, cook, or within catering/food preparation will be considered

  • Good knowledge of food hygiene, health and safety procedures

  • Organised, dependable, and able to work well as part of a team

Safeguarding:

  • An Enhanced Child only/Child & Adult DBS certificate on the Update Service is ideal

  • Applicants without one must be willing to obtain a DBS check before starting

Additional Information:

  • Role duration: 6 weeks (temporary cover)

  • Start date: ASAP / to be confirmed

  • Working within a supportive secondary school setting

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
