A welcoming and well-regarded secondary school in Poole is seeking a Food Technology Technician to join their Design & Technology department. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and practical individual who enjoys working in an educational environment and supporting students’ learning behind the scenes.

The Role:

The Food Technology Technician will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the food technology department. Working closely with teaching staff, the successful candidate will help prepare engaging and safe practical lessons for students across Key Stages 3 and 4.

Key responsibilities include:

• Preparing ingredients, equipment and resources for food technology lessons

• Supporting teachers during practical sessions where required

• Ensuring all equipment is cleaned, maintained and stored safely

• Managing stock levels, ordering supplies and monitoring budgets

• Maintaining high standards of hygiene and food safety in line with school policies

• Carrying out regular health and safety checks within food preparation areas

The Ideal Candidate:

• Has experience working in a food preparation, catering, or school-based environment (desirable)

• Possesses good organisational and time-management skills

• Has a strong understanding of food hygiene and health & safety procedures

• Is reliable, proactive and able to work independently

• Enjoys supporting young people in a learning environment

Food Hygiene certification is desirable, though training may be provided for the right candidate.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
