Job description

Food Technology Teacher – Specialist School in Fareham

Immediate Start – Temp to Perm – Paid to Scale

Are you passionate about Food Technology and looking to make a real difference in the lives of young people? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join a small, nurturing specialist school in the Fareham area. We are looking for a Food Technology Teacher to start as soon as possible, with the role being temp-to-perm. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a small team in a supportive environment where your expertise and care will have a lasting impact.

About the School:

This school is a warm, welcoming environment where staff work hard to provide a nurturing atmosphere for students. The school supports pupils aged 11-16 with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. With class sizes of around 6 pupils, it’s a fantastic opportunity to get to know each student individually and really make a difference in their learning journey.

While there can be some challenging behaviour, the school's main focus is on providing emotional and communication support, offering nurturing and tailored teaching methods to help students thrive. Every day brings something new, and the team is committed to providing a safe, caring space for every child to grow and succeed.

About the Role:

We’re looking for a creative and dedicated Food Technology Teacher who is excited to bring their skills to life in a small but dynamic school environment. You’ll be teaching Food Tech at both Key Stage 3 and GCSE level, helping students develop both practical skills and a love for food science.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering engaging lessons in Food Technology that cater to students' individual learning and emotional needs

  • Creating a fun and safe classroom environment where students feel supported and motivated

  • Collaborating with the support team to ensure students are receiving the right emotional and academic support

  • Helping students develop key skills that will benefit them both in and outside the classroom

  • Working closely with colleagues to monitor student progress and adjust learning plans as necessary

The school is looking for someone who can start immediately but is happy to wait for the right candidate. This role is offered as a temp-to-perm opportunity, so if you enjoy the role and the environment, there’s potential for a long-term position. The school will pay to scale, with salaries reflecting your experience and qualifications.

About You:

We are looking for someone who is not only passionate about teaching Food Technology but also understands the unique needs of students with SEMH. Whether you are a fully qualified teacher or an experienced Food Tech instructor with significant experience at GCSE level, we’d love to hear from you! If you're coming from a cover supervisor or instructor background, we will still consider you if you have substantial experience working with students at this level.

We are particularly looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate about Food Technology and inspiring students to learn

  • Patient, nurturing, and able to adapt to the needs of students with SEMH

  • Able to confidently manage a classroom and create a positive, engaging learning environment

  • Experienced in delivering Food Tech lessons at Key Stage 3 and ideally GCSE level

  • Understanding of how to provide emotional and communication support in a way that encourages students to succeed

This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a close-knit, supportive team where every staff member is dedicated to the well-being and success of the students. You’ll have the chance to make a real impact on the students’ lives, helping them to develop both practical skills and life skills in a caring and positive environment.

If this sounds like the kind of role where you could truly thrive, we would love to hear from you! Please get in touch today to apply or ask any questions.
