Qualified English Teacher

Location: Walsall

Start Date: ASAP/ Jan Start 

Pay rate: MPS/UPS (dependent on experience) 


Are you a passionate English Teacher ready to inspire the next generation of readers, writers and critical thinkers?

A thriving secondary school in the Walsall area is seeking an enthusiastic, creative and committed English Teacher to join its successful English Department. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious professional to make a lasting impact on pupils’ progress, confidence and love of language.

What youll be doing:

  • Deliver engaging and well-structured English lessons across KS3 and KS4, with opportunities to teach KS5 for the right candidate.

  • Plan, mark and assess students’ work in line with departmental and whole-school expectations.

  • Foster a learning environment where students feel confident to explore ideas, develop their writing craft and engage in meaningful discussion.

  • Use data and assessment to inform lesson planning and responsive teaching, ensuring all students including those with SEND or additional needs are supported to achieve their full potential.

  • Contribute to curriculum development, enrichment activities and literacy initiatives that enhance the cultural and academic life of the school.

  • Work collaboratively with a dedicated team of English specialists who share resources, strategies and a commitment to high standards.

What were looking for: 

  • A qualified English Teacher (ECT or experienced), with strong subject knowledge and a passion for literature, language and literacy.

  • Able to deliver lessons that are both inspirational and accessible, adapting teaching to meet the needs of a diverse cohort.

  • Confident in behaviour for learning strategies and committed to creating a calm, purposeful and supportive classroom climate.

  • A reflective practitioner, keen to contribute to departmental improvement and wider whole-school priorities.

  • A positive, communicative team player who values relationships with pupils, staff and parents.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
