Job description

A well-regarded secondary school in Salisbury is seeking to appoint a passionate and dedicated Qualified English Teacher to join their thriving English department from September 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic educator to inspire and engage students across Key Stages 3 and 4, within a supportive and forward-thinking school community.

The Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality English lessons that foster a love for literature, language, and learning. They will be expected to plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons, assess student progress effectively, and contribute to the wider life of the department and school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach English Language and Literature to students in KS3 and KS4

  • Create and implement well-structured, inspiring lessons that meet the needs of all learners

  • Monitor and assess pupil progress, providing constructive feedback and support

  • Contribute to the development of curriculum resources and schemes of work

  • Take part in departmental meetings, CPD opportunities, and school events

  • Maintain high expectations for student behaviour and academic achievement

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent recognised UK teaching qualification

  • A degree in English or a related subject

  • Experience teaching English at secondary level, ideally up to GCSE

  • A strong understanding of the national curriculum and assessment frameworks

  • Excellent classroom management skills and a commitment to inclusive education

  • A genuine passion for English and a desire to make a lasting impact on students’ education
