Full-Time English Teacher – Mainstream Secondary School, Salisbury

A well-established and high-performing mainstream secondary school in Salisbury is seeking a passionate, dedicated, and innovative Full-Time English Teacher to join their dynamic faculty. This is an exciting opportunity for a committed educator who is eager to inspire students, contribute to a thriving English department, and play a key role in raising attainment across Key Stages 3 and 4.

The successful candidate will deliver engaging and challenging English lessons that stimulate curiosity, develop critical thinking, and support students in becoming confident communicators. They will be expected to plan and deliver high-quality lessons aligned with the national curriculum, assess progress effectively, and provide meaningful feedback to ensure every student has the opportunity to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver consistently high-quality English lessons across KS3 and KS4

  • Plan, prepare, and assess work in line with departmental and school expectations

  • Use a range of teaching strategies to support diverse learning styles and abilities

  • Maintain high standards of classroom management, behaviour, and safeguarding

  • Contribute to departmental development, curriculum enrichment, and extracurricular activities

  • Engage positively with parents, colleagues, and senior leaders to support student progress

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification

  • Strong subject knowledge in English Language and Literature

  • Experience teaching in a secondary school setting

  • A commitment to raising standards and driving student achievement

  • Excellent communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
