A secondary school in Portsmouth is seeking a fully qualified English Teacher to join their committed faculty. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to make a meaningful impact in a supportive and dynamic learning environment.

We are looking for a motivated and knowledgeable English Teacher to deliver high-quality lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4. The ideal candidate will have a strong subject knowledge and the ability to inspire a love of literature and language in students of all abilities.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons in line with the national curriculum

  • Teach across Key Stages 3 and 4, with potential for Key Stage 5 depending on experience

  • Assess, monitor, and report on student progress, providing constructive feedback to support development

  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel supported and challenged

  • Contribute to the wider English department and participate in curriculum development

  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour, achievement, and personal development

  • Engage actively in school life and promote the values and ethos of the school

 

Person Specification

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK

  • A degree in English or a related subject

  • Proven experience of teaching English at secondary level (KS3 and KS4 essential)

  • Strong subject knowledge and a genuine enthusiasm for English literature and language

  • Excellent classroom management skills

  • Ability to inspire, challenge, and support students of varying abilities

  • A commitment to continuous professional development and collaboration
