A secondary school in Portsmouth is seeking a fully qualified English Teacher to join their committed faculty. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to make a meaningful impact in a supportive and dynamic learning environment.
We are looking for a motivated and knowledgeable English Teacher to deliver high-quality lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4. The ideal candidate will have a strong subject knowledge and the ability to inspire a love of literature and language in students of all abilities.
Key Responsibilities

Plan, prepare and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons in line with the national curriculum

Teach across Key Stages 3 and 4, with potential for Key Stage 5 depending on experience

Assess, monitor, and report on student progress, providing constructive feedback to support development
-
Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel supported and challenged
-
Contribute to the wider English department and participate in curriculum development
-
Maintain high expectations for behaviour, achievement, and personal development
-
Engage actively in school life and promote the values and ethos of the school
Person Specification
-
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK
-
A degree in English or a related subject
-
Proven experience of teaching English at secondary level (KS3 and KS4 essential)

Strong subject knowledge and a genuine enthusiasm for English literature and language

Excellent classroom management skills
-
Ability to inspire, challenge, and support students of varying abilities

A commitment to continuous professional development and collaboration

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
