English Teacher
Job description
Teaching Personnel is seeking a passionate and dedicated First Qualified Teacher (FQT) of English to join a welcoming secondary school in Hastings. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic teacher at the start of their career to take on full teaching responsibilities within a supportive and well-resourced department.
This role is offered on an initial agency basis, with the opportunity to transition to a permanent contract with the school following a successful placement period, subject to mutual satisfaction.
About the Role
- Full-time English teaching position across Key Stages 3 and 4
- Full teaching responsibilities including planning, preparation, marking, and assessment
- Delivering engaging and differentiated lessons to support all learners
- Monitoring and tracking student progress in line with school policies
- Contributing to the wider school community, including meetings and extracurricular activities
- Maintaining high standards of behaviour and engagement in the classroom
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential
- Open to Early Career Teachers (ECTs)
- Strong subject knowledge in English Language and Literature
- Excellent classroom management skills
- A commitment to raising achievement and supporting student development
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
