English Teacher – Secondary School

Bath
Immediate Start – Day-to-Day Work with Potential for Full-Time Role Until the End of the Academic Year

We are seeking a fully qualified and experienced English Teacher to join a secondary school in Bath as soon as possible. This opportunity can begin as flexible day-to-day work, with the potential to transition into a full-time position continuing until the end of the academic year.

This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate and committed educator to become part of a supportive English department and make a meaningful impact on students’ progress and attainment.

About the Role

This is a full teaching role, including planning and marking responsibilities once in post full-time. The successful candidate will deliver engaging and well-structured English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (Key Stage 5 experience is desirable but not essential).

You will be responsible for creating an inspiring learning environment that supports students of all abilities, while maintaining high expectations for behaviour, progress and achievement. Strong classroom management skills are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality English lessons in line with the national curriculum

  • Prepare engaging schemes of work and lesson resources

  • Mark and assess student work, providing clear and constructive feedback

  • Track and monitor student progress

  • Differentiate learning to meet a range of abilities and needs

  • Maintain excellent classroom behaviour and routines

  • Contribute to departmental planning and wider school activities

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Experience teaching English within a secondary school setting

  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills

  • Experience with planning and marking responsibilities

  • Excellent communication and organisational abilities

  • A commitment to raising standards and supporting student achievement
