Teaching Personnel are currently seeking Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) who are looking to gain or develop experience within SEMH and SEN provisions across East Lancashire.

This opportunity is ideal for those looking to build confidence and experience in specialist settings, while benefiting from flexible, part-time work across a variety of schools including primary, secondary and alternative provisions.

The Role

You will be supporting children and young people with a range of additional needs, including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD and associated behavioural challenges.

As an HLTA or ECT, your role may include supporting learning, delivering small group interventions, and in some cases leading lessons, while helping pupils to stay engaged, regulated and progressing positively.

Key Responsibilities

Providing 1:1 and small group support
Leading targeted interventions and supporting lesson delivery
Managing and supporting challenging behaviour using positive strategies
Building strong, professional relationships with pupils
Working collaboratively with teaching and pastoral staff
Creating a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment
Adapting approaches to meet individual pupil needs

The Ideal Candidate

HLTA qualification or ECT status
Experience working with children or young people (school-based or transferable experience)
Interest in or experience with SEMH and SEN
Confident supporting behaviour and emotional regulation
Resilient, adaptable and proactive
Strong communication and classroom management skills

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
