Ad Hoc SEMH Teaching Assistants – Leyland Area

Location: Leyland and surrounding areas

Teaching Personnel are currently seeking Ad Hoc SEMH Teaching Assistants to work in schools across Leyland and the surrounding areas. This flexible role is ideal for individuals with experience supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs who are looking for varied work in a range of school settings.

The Role:
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils who may display challenging behaviour or require additional emotional and behavioural support. You will work alongside teachers and pastoral staff to help create a positive and engaging learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 or small group support to pupils with SEMH needs
  • Help manage behaviour and support emotional regulation
  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons
  • Build positive relationships with pupils to support their development
  • Promote a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, behavioural needs, or additional needs
  • Backgrounds in youth work, care, sports coaching, or support work are highly valued
  • Strong behaviour management and communication skills
  • A patient, resilient and proactive attitude
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
