Teaching Personnel's International Team Welcomes Peter Brook

23/08/2007 Joanna

New teachers arriving in the UK will now benefit from the experience and enthusiasm Peter Brook brings to our International Team.  Having been a teacher in Australia, lived in Leeds and London, having travelled the world, worked as a Recruitment Consultant finding teachers work, his latest adventure is to help fellow Antipodeans come to the UK to teach!

A bit more about Peter Brook

Peter qualified as a Teacher in Melbourne in 2002.  Since then he has fulfilled his lifelong ambition of living overseas and travelling the world.  The original plan was to move to London with a group of friends, but after being offered a great job in Leeds, (Northern England) he ended up there.  So at the ripe old age of 21 Peter left friends and family behind to discover life and teaching in Leeds. Utilizing all of the support and social networks offered by the teaching agency, Peter quickly settled and loved the change in lifestyle offered in the North. Particularly the friendly people, cheaper lifestyle and accessibility to all parts of the UK. Of course, he took advantage of  the frequent school holidays to travel throughout Europe.

In 2004, using money he had saved whilst teaching in the UK, he embarked on a trip of a lifetime “Around the World,” starting in Mexico, heading down through Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina and Brazil for 5 months he enjoyed amazing sites, sensational people, crazy nightlife and the most amazing cultural experiences.

After returning to his job in Leeds for another 5 months, he still managed a trip to Eastern Europe for a white Christmas, before heading down to Southern Africa for 2 months, spending 5 weeks travelling through Costal South Africa and an amazing Safari through Bostwana, Zambia, Zimbawe, Namibia, South Africa.  The final leg was to head home to Australia.

Finally back home again Peter spent 2005 working as a Year 5 teacher in a primary school in Australia but once again had the temptation of friends moving to the UK to teach. After all the good times, life in the UK was just too tempting and so he decided to move back with 5 of his friends, getting a house together in Headingley, the heart of the student zone in Leeds. Peter quickly got a great job teaching Year 6 in a local school, and successfully took his students through their SATS exam and received an ‘Outstanding grade’ during the school Ofsted inspection.

After 4 years on and off having a great time living in Leeds, Peter decided to finally move to London! So now after settling into life in the South West he’s loving it!  Originally arriving here to supply teach,  Peter was quickly snatched up by Teaching Personnel as a much needed member of the Recruitment Team!  An opportunity arose in TP’s International Department – which has now meant Peter has come full circle and will be helping fellow International Teachers to make a success of their Working Holiday in the UK!
