A school in the south west is going to be paying particular attention to the forthcoming London games, with no less than four of its students taking part.
Plymouth College students Tom Daley, 18 (diving), Ruta Meilutyte, 15, Jamila Lunkuse, 15, and Jade Howard, 17 (all swimmers), will be competing in London representing Team GB, Lithuania, Uganda and Zambia respectively.
Headmaster Dr Simon Wormleighton was full of praise not only for the school's athletic stars, but also for those in teaching jobs at the college.
"It is very important that we do all we can to ensure our athletes can perform at world level in the sports arena but at the same time achieve their academic goals," he told the Plymouth Herald.
"I believe we have created a unique environment that offers top sports people like Tom and the girls the flexibility and support to do well in both."
Daley shot to fame at the 2008 Beijing games before winning the 2009 world championships in the 10m individual competition.
