Students at one Cornwall school have been taking part in a host of exciting experiments to celebrate science and engineering week.
Pupils at Redruth School saw their classrooms and corridors transformed into giant laboratories, with highlights including a ballistics demonstration on the school playing field, which involved firing potatoes out of cannons.
Speaking to the Western Morning News, Christie Charlesworth, who co-ordinated the activities, said it has been an exhausting but worthwhile week.
"It's so important that our children are switched on to science and there have been so many times this week when we have seen those jaw-dropping moments as young people have observed the wonders of scientific discovery," she told the news provider.
In other Cornwall education news, two local secondary schools converted to academy status this week.
Camborne Science and Community College and Pool Business and Enterprise College are no longer under local authority control.
