The eco credentials of an East Midlands primary school have been highlighted after it was shortlisted for an environmental award.
According to the Leicester Mercury, the £10 million sustainable timber design of Taylor Road Primary School, in St Matthew's, Leicester, caught the eye of judges for the Education Business Awards and was selected for the Environmental Building category.
Headteacher Chris Hassall told the newspaper the school's staff were "delighted" their place of work had been recognised by the awards.
"It is a splendid building and the children and parents are delighted to be setting an example when it comes to environmental issues. We all care about the future of our planet," he added.
The other two schools up for the award sponsored by Ocip Energy are Old Park Primary School in Telford and Dorset's Queen Elizabeth's School.
