A Watford member of school staff
has this week met with a judging panel to help determine whether she is a worthy recipient of a prestigious award.
According to the Watford Observer, Jan Rayat, who has a teaching job at both West Hers College and Watford Grammar School for Boys, has been shortlisted in the Asian Women of Achievement ceremony.
Her nomination for the public sector award came in recognition of the teacher's role in ensuring that all pupils have equal opportunities, regardless of language deficits or disabilities.
Chief executive of the British Red Cross Sir Nicholas Young is chairing the judging panel for the award, with the winners due to be announced on May 20th.
The event, which will be held at the London Hilton and is sponsored by Lloyds-TSB, honours Asian women who make a "significant contribution to British life", the paper stated.
Last month, newspaper The Journal invited nominations for the North East School Awards, which honour local school staff for their hard work.
