It’s a year since the DBS Update Service was launched to improve safeguarding standards and to help speed up recruitment processes for many employers.
Now that the service has been available for a year, you may wish to pay £13 to renew your subscription to use the service for another 12 months (if you opted out of automatic renewals). Please visit the DBS website
www.gov.uk/dbs for more details on how to renew your subscription.
Registering with the DBS Update service means that employers will be able to check online if your current DBS certificate is up to date. This could mean that you no longer have to complete any further DBS Disclosure checks (unless your criminal record changes).
There is an annual fee of £13 payable direct to the DBS but this could result in significant future savings against completing a new DBS check (currently £44 per check).
Teaching Personnel highly recommend that all candidates register with the DBS Update Service on completion of your next DBS Enhanced Disclosure.
If you have any further questions about the Update service and how it works, please do not hesitate to contact your local branch at any time.
