A group of schools in Bournemouth has been presented with an award recognising its leadership and subject expertise.
The Avonbourne Trust, which includes Avonbourne College, Harewood College, Avonbourne Sixth Form and Avonwood Primary School, has been given The Prince's Teaching Institute (PTI) Schools Leadership Mark, the Daily Echo reports.
In addition to schools' leadership, the award recognises the quality, rigour and challenge the curriculum offers to children of all ages and abilities.
Avonbourne Trust was found to encourage the recruitment and development of passionate teachers, enhance the knowledge of subject leaders and provide action-based research and collaboration between its schools.
Particular praise was reserved for the way the group enhanced leaders' subject knowledge, which included sending them on courses at Cambridge University.
Headteacher Debbie Godfrey-Phaure said: "Our teachers lead from the front and their inspiration to do so is seeing the marvellous progress that’s being made by all our students as a result."
