All in a day's work: Secondary teacher turns down Depp

A secondary teacher from east London has turned down a proposal from Hollywood heartthrob Johnny Depp.

However, it was not a date the happily married movie megastar was after, but rather the film rights to her latest book, The Carbon Diaries 2015, for his production company Infinitum Nihil.

Saci Lloyd, media studies teacher at Newham Sixth Form College, told the BBC: "Much as I love Johnny Depp and it was a wrench, it was a 'maybe later, Jonny'.

"These books are really about London. It's a heightened reality, but the idea is it's close to things that could really happen."

Ms Lloyd instead opted to sell the production rights for the book, which has proved popular with teenage readers, to British film-making firm Company Pictures, for broadcast on the BBC.

Mr Depp is known for tackling on quirky characters in his films, which include Edward Scissorhands and, perhaps most famously, Captain Jack Sparrow in Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.ADNFCR-2164-ID-19581842-ADNFCR
