Youth Worker - York

  • Experienced Youth or Community Support Worker

Teaching Personnel are looking to recruit an experienced Youth Worker for temporary employment for an alternative provision in York. The post is to start in September 2019 and we are flexible for part time availability, although full time would be desirable.

The provision deals with pupils that are of a vulnerable state and sometimes challenging nature. You will work on a one to one basis with students across Key Stages 1 - 5, taking an active role in reinforcing positive behaviour. You will also be responsible for encouraging learners to overcome barriers to learning, improve their skills and ultimately gain recognised qualifications.

You will have strong interpersonal skills in order to communicate with families, carers and a multidisciplinary team of teaching staff, social workers and educational psychologists. You will be organised, patient and confident, with a sound understanding of the key issues currently affecting young people.
