Youth Worker required in Blackburn

Job description

Do you have experience working with young people from the age of 5 and implementing relevant safeguarding procedures?

Do you have experience in working with young people who would be seen as challenging or supporting young people through a difficult time in their lives?

Are you a youth worker looking to gain experience within an educational setting?

Teaching Personnel are working very closely with a Blackburn Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) who require an experienced youth and Community studies Graduate or an experienced Youth Worker to assist in engaging pupils within the classroom and those who are deemed at risk of exclusion.

Pupils within this school range between the ages of 6 -16 and have all been permanently excluded from their mainstream school. Some pupils will be attending this school on a short stay basis with a restorative approach in the hope that they will eventually be able to be successfully reintegrated back into mainstream.

The Youth and Community studies Graduates or Youth Workers will be required to support pupils with their academic studies within the classroom as a 1:1 or general classroom support. The Graduate may also be required to support pupils outside the classroom if they are struggling to engage. The school has 'safe spaces' that are designed to help regulate pupils who have reached the point of crisis, support may be needed when in this space.

The position is due to start after Easter on a rolling contract until the end of the academic year. Ideally the Youth and Community studies Graduate will have a DBS on the update service to allow for a quick turn around, however Teaching Personnel can assist with the application if necessary.

If you would like to be considered for this position, please email and up-to-date CV to Kirsten Ashcroft or email or call the office on 01772 842155.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.

Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
