Youth Worker Required for Teaching Assistant position

Job description

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a Bury Primary Pupil Referral Unit who require a specialised KS3 Teaching Assistant on a full time basis to work at their Radcliffe site. This role is to start in April 2018 and continue on until the end of the academic year. The role would require the Youth Work Teaching Assistant to support whole class and occasionally as a 1:1 support.

This Bury school cater for young people who have been excluded from their mainstream school. Pupils ideally will be in this provision on a short stay basis before reintegrating back into mainstream education. The ideal Teaching Assistant will have a passion for implementing a restorative approach to behaviour.

The ideal Teaching Assistant would have;

  • previous experience supporting young people with social, emotional and mental health needs
  • strong behaviour management skills
  • have sound knowledge of the Primary National Curriculum
  • have an up-to-date Team - Teach qualification
  • have a DBS on the update service

The successful Teaching Assistant will also have a passion for promoting behavioural development in young people and must be able to act as a positive role model to the young people within this setting. You will need to be proactive, enthusiastic and have a determination to succeed.
