Youth Worker required for school in North Yorkshire

Job description

We are working on behalf of a Secondary School located in North Yorkshire, wish to appoint a teaching assistant with previous youth work experience, to support pupils aged 11-16.

  • Full time Teaching Assistant position, immediate start.
  • £55 - £60 per day depending upon previous experiences
  • Fantastic opportunity to enhance future Teacher training applications
  • Supporting students in small groups and on a 1:1 basis
  • Working with disengaged learners

The successful Teaching Assistant will support students in class across the subject areas, and deliver targeted interventions to students on a 1:1 basis during lessons and break times. Further to this, the appointed Youth Work Teaching Assistant will have the opportunity to cover lessons in the absence of the class teacher, which is great experience of classroom and behaviour management. Due to some of the students displaying challenging behaviour, the role will also involve working closely with pupils who have been withdrawn from lessons.

The school have expressed that the appointed Teaching Assistant has previous experience of working with students aged 11 - 16 who display challenging behaviour.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
