Job description

Teaching Personnel are currently looking to appoint several, full time Youth Workers to join a busy alternative provision in Scisset, Huddersfield. The school is easily accessible by public transport from surrounding areas including Huddersfield, Wakefield and Leeds. The role is full time (Monday - Friday) and after a twelve week probation period you will be given the opportunity to join the school on a permanent basis.

The school caters to students of Primary and Secondary age that have Social, Emotional and Mental Health issues and come from vulnerable, traumatic and disadvantaged backgrounds. These students access their learning in this setting rather than a mainstream school so that they can have tailored and 1:1 support to help them to achieve their academic, personal and social goals.

We are looking for someone who is outgoing, resilient and calm natured to help engage these students and effectively manage any challenging behaviour or absconding that may arise. You will be expected to have difficult conversations with the students when necessary and work in a small groups or 1:1 setting.

We are looking for candidates who have any of the following experience:

  • Criminology
  • Youth/Community work experience
  • SEN experience
  • Residential support/care worker
  • Sports coaching
  • Team Teach
  • Youth Offending Services
  • Challenging behaviour within family
  • Mentoring
  • Teaching/Learning support Assistance
  • Psychology

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
