Do you have experience of working with young people?

Are you engaging and friendly?

Can you support those who need it most?

We are looking for people with a background in youth work to support young people within various education settings around the Birmingham area, many of these young people being outside of mainstream education. These young people have additional needs in some form such as SEMH, being school refusers, anxiety, or other mental health issues. As a result, they are in need of a positive reinforcement, patience and care to guide them back into education or further education and training from a mentor or youth worker.

These pupils are school aged between 5-16 and may be in a number of settings or provisions such as schools, residential settings or alternative provisions such as PRU’s. These young people will already be supported by either the school or their Local Education Authority but will be in need of additional one-to-one support. The ideal youth workers would have:

  • Experience of working with disengaged young people/ previous experience as youth worker.
  • Evidence of making a positive impact in young people’s lives.
  • A calm and dedicated personality
  • Desirable to have experience with challenging behaviour.
  • Be available 8:30am-15:30pm.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
