Youth Worker - Wigan
Are you qualified in youth work and looking to make a transition into working in secondary education?
If so, please see details below of an exciting, immediate, full-time job opportunity at a secondary school based in Wigan.
Due to an increase in students that have joined the school this term, the SENCO at our client secondary school wishes to appoint an experienced youth work mentor to join them at the earliest convenience.
If successful in your application, you will work closely with students who are at risk of exclusion on a 1:1 basis. You will be a positive role model and encourage positive classroom behaviours, ultimately preventing these students from being excluded and allowing them to be educated at a high level.
- £275 - £325 per week, paid on supply initially with a view to a contract.
- Working on a one-to-one basis ensuring students are engaged during lessons.
- Supporting independent learning in the inclusion unit.
- Gain invaluable experience for those looking to transition into working in SEN provisions.
- Required to start at the earliest convenience.
Located in the area of Hindley and just minutes away from the A588, our client school is easily accessible from the centre of Wigan as well as other including Westhoughton and Leigh.
Within the school's most recent Ofsted report (2017) the school was commended for the outcomes it achieves for disadvantaged pupils and highlighted the effectiveness of the school's pastoral support. Pupils say that they feel safe in school and that the staff do everything they can to help them achieve whilst they are there.
"We currently have a large pastoral team with qualified youth work mentors, but would like to add another from September to provide additional support to a number of key students. The ideal youth work mentor will have previous experience working with disengaged and disadvantaged youths in either an educational or community setting."
