Job description

Youth Worker - Manchester

We are currently seeking a Youth Worker to join our school to help support our pupils and encourage further engagement in mainstream education and reduce their risk of permanent exclusion. You will be required to work on a 1:1 and group basis both within the classroom and around the school, working as a role model figure and assisting in the development of identified pupils.

This is a very rewarding role where everyday will be different, however just a few examples of things you may be required to do are:

  • Support pupils in a wide range of activities, both inside lessons and during extra curricular activities, encouraging greater social interaction
  • Offering advice through 1:1 and group sessions, promoting positive behaviour and reducing the risk of the pupil engaging with drugs, gangs and violence.
  • Monitoring the progress of pupils and putting in plans for development, both with the pupil and their parents

You will be working at a large school in Rochdale with state of the art facilities and a recent multimillion pound refurbishment, resulting in excellent learning provisions throughout. The school has a growing reputation in the community and has excellent training and support provisions throughout the whole school, offering real opportunities for progression.

  • Full time position starting in September 2018
  • Earn up to £1300 a month dependent on experience and responsibilities
  • Access to further development through our CPD training courses in partner schools
  • Strengthen your application for PGCE placement or similar Teacher Training Programme
