Job description

A Specialist Provision in Manchester are currently seeking to appoint a Youth Work Teaching Assistant for September 2018. The Provision currently has 98 pupils enrolled and caters for pupils with complex, medical and physical needs. Due to the specific needs of the pupils many communication methods are used throughout the setting such as: iPads, PECs, Braille and BSL. The main aim of this Setting is to promote and encourage the independence of pupils, so therefore it is essential for the Youth Worker to share this passion.

The Youth Worker needs to be flexible and willing to work with pupils of all abilities.

The Youth Worker should have experience of:

  • Working directly with pupils who display signs of challenging of behaviour
  • Applying de-escalation tactics
  • Experience working within a School or Youth Work Setting

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
