Youth Work Teaching Assistant

Job description

Are you a qualified Youth Worker wishing to transition into an educational setting? Do you have experience working with vulnerable young people aged 11-16? If so, please see the details of the position available at our partner Secondary school in the Moston region of North Manchester.

The large RC Secondary school wish to appoint a team of Youth Work professionals to work within their on site Alternative Provision with small groups of students from Key Stage Three and Key Stage Four. The team can accommodate for full time and part time Youth Work teaching assistants and wish to put strategies in place by January 2019.

  • Earn up to £300 per week.
  • Invaluable experience prior to completing PGCE/teacher training.

Our partner school is located in the Moston region of North Manchester and can be accessed via the M60 motorway. For non-drivers there are a number of public transportation links that lead directly to the school.

Due to the demographics of the location, there are a significant number of pupils that receive additional Disadvantaged Pupil funding. A high proportion of students that access the Alternative Provision have additional learning needs, and require further support whilst they attend school. The responsibilities of the Youth Work team will involve delivering group sessions to pupils on motivation, confidence and self-esteem whilst providing mentoring sessions to pupils on a 1:1 basis. The Youth Work team will be fully supported by the SENCo and Inclusion Manager at school.
