Teaching Assistant, Halton

Teaching Personnel are working with Halton Borough Local Authority school to provide a one-to-one support assistant to work with a student on developing both their social and academic skills in KS3. To be successful in this role you must have prior experience in supporting in either a paid or volunteer placement, working with young people or adults with social, emotional and mental health difficulties. In addition to this you must be able to drive and have a car in order to attend meetings with the students in other locations and on occasion take them to the library to work. (Expenses will be paid for travel where required)

To work with this student you be required daily:

• To begin each session new day, new start

• Ensure instructions are clear, repeated and explained

• Collating learning objectives to maintain attention and focus

• Ensure consistency in lessons

• Use of kinaesthetic methods wherever possible

• Avoid change without prior notice

• Any sanction should be swift and appropriate

• Where possible ignore low level verbal disruption

• Allow a time-out if inattentive

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
