Youth Worker/Education Support Role – Start Immediately

An education intervention service which operates in a short stay alternative provision based in New Malden is looking for a member of support staff with youth work experience to support primary school children with:

  • Social, emotional and mental health difficulties
  • Challenging behaviour
  • Vulnerable children who have experienced past trauma

Your role is to work with these children in a mentor/support capacity. You will be provided with academic materials and resources to work through, however your main focus is to support their emotional needs. Your role is intervention based and is designed to avoid young people being excluded from school permanently – ideally the students you work with will be able to re-integrate back into class.

You will receive:

  • Daily pay starting at £75-£85/day plus 12% towards pension and National Insurance contributions
  • A support network of advisory teachers, senior leadership, caseworkers and social workers
  • A work phone, provided by the educational service
  • A small group of students to work with on a daily basis
  • All work/materials/resources are prepared for you to deliver so there is no planning required

Previous experience of being a youth worker, positive role model, mentor, tutor, advisor, counsellor or behaviour support teaching assistant would be ideal. You will need a passion for motivating, encouraging and inspiring children who need extra support.

If you are interested in taking on this kind of role, please start by sending your CV for consideration today.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see teachingpersonnel.com/faqs for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’. We offer all our registered candidates FREE child protection and prevent duty training. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
