Job description

The role is to be a mentor and role model to teenagers (KS3 and KS4) in an Alternative Provision Education Centre, in Exeter. Providing consistent, reliable, nurturing support to young people who are away from their families or carers whilst in education.

Qualifications required would be GCSEs Pass in English and Maths and additional specific training training will also be provided. Must be over 21, have a full, manual Driving Licence and be prepared to work Monday to Friday, 08:30- 15:30. There is plenty of opportunity for Career Progression for the right candidates. You will also be paid weekly. You will also be put through a 2 week paid school induction.

Responsibilities and Duties

Youth Mentor's are part of a Team who support a young person, either on a small group basis or one to one. The support of the young people is paramount. You will be engaging with on a social and emotional level to help them engage with their education. You will support them to engage with peers, you will also be required to work with your pupil on and off site.

You will be required to get involved with students activities with elements of Outdoor Education.

You will have experience in a Youth Work capacity

You will have experience working with young people or adults with additional needs

You will be an experienced education professional

You could be a graduate looking to get into a career in teaching
